San Pedro, also known by its ancestral name Huachuma, is one of the most ancient and sacred teacher plants of the Andes. Its use dates back more than 3,000 years, found carved into the stones of ancient temples like Chavín de Huántar in Peru — a place where priests and healers once communed with the plant to open portals between worlds.
Huachuma is a cactus that grows high in the Andean mountains, often reaching great heights just as its spirit elevates human consciousness. It is considered a masculine medicine — the spirit of the grandfather — carrying the wisdom of the mountains and the expansive light of the cosmos. Yet, it holds a gentle, loving heart that opens us to deep compassion, understanding, and unity.
